Organizing Hand-Me-Downs (When You Need to Give Them Back)

I currently have a pretty sweet deal when it comes to kids' clothing. For this summer, I purchased 4 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, and one set of pajamas for Kiddo. That's it.
And no, Kiddo is not hurting for clothes. Family members have gifted him a few items, but most of his (pretty large) wardrobe consists of hand-me-downs.

How Long Should I Keep The Boxes? (A.K.A. My Little Hoarding Problem)

As I've worked on creating clutter-free closets, I've discovered evidence of a little hoarding problem: I keep boxes. The above picture is an example of a"stash" I found in my basement. I almost always save the boxes from kitchen appliances, decor items, dishes, and  electronics, and I feel guilty when I recycle them.

So whats wrong with keeping my boxes? I feel like my reasons are logical:

Welcome to Tips and Tricks Thursday! Every Thursday I'll share a little tip or trick that has made my life easier in some way.
Last year my MOPs group had an entire meeting where we took turns sharing little tips and tricks, and it was so incredibly fun and helpful.  As I worked on last week's big goal to clear out my drafts folder, I found a draft full of little tips I had gathered here and there. I originally intended to share them all on the blog in one big post, but I realized they would work well as individual posts.  This will also be a great venue for those little tips and tricks I come across that aren't necessarily "good enough" for their own big blog post.
Most of the Tips and Tricks will fall under parenting and cooking, since my life seems to revolve around those two subjects the most. However, there may also be an occasional cleaning, organizing, or household management tip.
So, without further ado, here is my first Tip/Trick!

Removing White Heat Spots - Like Magic!

About a year ago, this happened. 

Yeah, it was BAD! We were canning applesauce and laid the jars on a few layers of dish towels as they cooled. We learned that day to always put down a really thick layer of towels, like a heavy beach towel. Or else... 

Thankfully, about a month before this happened, I had discovered a tutorial on how to remove these stubborn stains.
