Welcome back to Tips & Tricks Thursday! This little corner of the
blog is devoted to those simple ideas that make life better or easier
in some way. :)
The Tip: Crayola crayons are worth the extra cash.
I'm not typically brand-loyal, but sometimes it's really worth it to go with a name you know. Case in point? Crayolas are washable. The Playskool crayons you buy at the dollar store are not. (Ask me how I know.)
The
good news is, scrubbing with a paste made from baking soda and water helps to get the
crayon off smooth surfaces, such as cabinets or laminate floors. Sigh.
Why I love it:
Spending a little more on Crayola saves me a lot of time and aggravation. These crayons are truly washable! I can clean up mis-placed scribbles with a wet rag, and crayon marks on clothes easily come out in the wash. And since my Kiddo still occasionally eats crayons, it gives me peace of mind to know that Crayola crayons {affiliate link} are non-toxic and made in the USA.
Are you a brand snob? What do you spend a little more on to get the name brand?
Have a tip, trick, or simple helpful hint to share? You are more than welcome to submit your idea here. I'd love to include it in a future post!

Disclosure: Crayola has not sponsored this post and probably doesn't know I exist. I just really like their products!
I agree, Crayola is the best for crayons, as well as markers! My favorite name brands I cannot skimp on are: Heinz ketchup, Kikoman soy sauce, and Clausen pickles!!!! Everything else I am fine with generics!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love Simply Heinz! :) Another one that just has to be name brand for us is Cheerios. The generics just don't compare.
DeleteAMEN! I totally agree. I also love that Crayola stands behind its products. I once purchased a "slick stick" that had dried out. I called the company and a very kind lady sent us out a replacement plus several extra treats. Customer service told me that any time I had a problem I should call because all their products are guaranteed. The good news is, we have TONS of Crayola products and we've never had any other problems. Also Crayola products don't break as easily as generic crayons.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, hydrangeaplace! :)
DeleteIt's great to know that Crayola has such wonderful customer service! :)
Things like this I would stick to the brand, otherwise I usually buy off brands. Thanks for sharing this with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to comment, Marti! :)
DeleteI'm with you. I don't often worry about buying a specific brand, but sometimes it's worth it.
I completely agree! Even over here in the UK I only buy Crayola for my children with crayons, pens and pencils. I find the cheaper ones snap easily or run out quicker and the pencils don't sharpen properly. The sets are always great to buy for a birthday partys as they are a well known brand and don't the earth for a small gift.

Thanks for the comment, Alana! I guess Crayola is the best across the globe. :)
ReplyDeleteRED Crayola washable tiny marker stripe wiped right off of my cream sofa. Crayola fan for life.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's impressive, Jasi! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! :)
DeleteAnd...if you purchase them in the late summer (when the back to school sales are going on), they are generally cheaper than the no-name brand (because the no-name brand rarely goes on sale). That is when I stock up on supplies for Muffin (because you can get the name brands for pennies on the dollar).
ReplyDeleteGreat tip, Susan! I usually just ask for crayons for birthday and Christmas, but I'll definitely have to keep that in mind.
DeleteSpeaking of crayons, did you ever try fixing the scuffs on your shoes? How did it work out? :-)
