Dear Summer, Please Don't Go!

Monday is Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer.
School may have started. Other bloggers may be posting fall projects and decor. But not me. I'm stubborn, hanging onto every last drop of summer until it's truly fall.

Dear Summer,
I know you're feeling like you've worn out your welcome. Pumpkin spice lattes are back on the menu. Candy corn and fall decor are starting to pop up in stores. It would be easy to feel unappreciated. Perhaps that's why we've experienced unseasonably cool weather lately.
But let me tell you, you ARE appreciated and you WILL be missed! Please don't leave us, summer. I'm not ready to see you go quite yet!
Here are five reasons I'm not ready to give up on summer quite yet:

Spending Time Outside:

Summer weather is perfect for playing outside. We love to have picnics, go on walks, toss the ball, and play in the sandbox. Oh, how I'll miss these summer days when it gets cold out!

Family Vacation:

Sun, sand, swimming, hiking, campfires, and family. We alternate years between taking a vacation with Hubby's family and mine. This year was at my "Happy Place" with my family. I treasure the time we spend with family, especially watching Kiddo interact with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousin, and other extended family members.

Ease of Leaving the House:

This one is HUGE with a toddler. If we need to go anywhere, we just need to put on our shoes and go. In the fall and winter, we need socks, shoes, and a jacket. I'm not looking forward to wrestling Kiddo into his jacket as we head to the store, play dates, and activities.

Less Laundry:

In the summer we wear less layers, and they're lighter weight, so I can usually get away with one less load a week. This also means I have less clothing to fold. (Can I get an amen?)
And then there's the fact that I can hang clothes outside. There's something peaceful and satisfying about seeing our clothes waving out on the line.

Fresh Fruits and Veggies:

Watermelon, peaches, tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, peppers, corn, and all kinds of berries. There's so much good food to love in the summer! Whether you buy from a farmer's market or pick it yourself at a local farm or your backyard, you can't beat the freshness of summer produce.
We take advantage of all this bounty by canning and freezing all summer long, but preserved produce simply doesn't compare to fresh.

So you see, Summer, you should really hang in here a bit longer. I'm not ready to see you go. I can give you more reasons if you don't think my love is true.

Love,
P.S.: Don't worry, Fall - I still love you. It's just not your time yet. I will gladly welcome you and all your cozy pumpkin goodness with open arms once it's your time.
