A Little Love

While most of my fellow bloggers were sharing amazing heart-themed craft projects, Valentine's decor, and gift guides, I didn't contribute anything here on the blog. Hubby and I aren't really into celebrating greeting card holidays. We do little things to show our love and appreciation throughout the year, so we don't see the need to go all-out for Valentine's Day. If anything, we're more likely to do something special for our wedding anniversary.
Even so, we did a few small things in honor of Valentine's Day.
Not long ago, Kiddo and I made heart-shaped pancakes for lunch. While they were mostly hearts, there were a few letters and a snowman upon his request.

We also made some valentines. And by "we" I mean I did all the work. Kiddo wanted no part in doing crafts the two times I tried, but he consented to having his hand traced. :)

While Hubby didn't get me flowers or a gift this year, I was just as tickled when he spontaneously left me a refrigerator love note. Of course, I responded in turn, and it was really sweet and fun! Since we only have one magnet of each letter, we had to get creative. We went back and forth several times, and these are a few that I caught on film. My favorite is the one on the bottom because I can just hear it in Hubby's southern drawl. :-)

Finally, on Valentine's Day itself, I made a special treat for Hubby, which has been tradition for us. Usually he requests Chocolate Lava Cakes, but this year he requested a skillet cookie. I searched for a recipe on Pinterest (where else?), but I ended up modifying a favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and converting it to bake in the skillet. It was perfect with a scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee - our idea of a great dessert. I'll be sharing the recipe soon!

So, that was the extent of our Valentine's Day festivities. Did you celebrate over the weekend?

  1. We had heart shaped pizzas (sort of) on Friday. But we amped up Saturday night date night a bit with a cheese board and all the fixins. This year Muffin seemed to really be interested in the day, so a lot of the focus was on him.

    1. So sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, Susan! I saw you heart-shaped pizzas on your menu plan - what a cute idea!
