Why I've Been Quiet Lately

Some of you may have noticed that I didn't post to the blog as frequently during the months of August and September. In the beginning of August, I made the switch from regular Monday/Wednesday/Friday posts to posting on Monday and Friday, and sometimes just Monday. And honestly, I know the quality of the posts themselves haven't been the best. I've been just getting by, keeping my head above water. Part of it was the summer busy-ness of the garden and canning, and part of it was taking the time to enjoy the summer.

But the biggest reason for my summer slow-down was that, starting at the end of July, I was exhausted and nauseous. All the time.

Yup, there will be a new little person joining us at the Pinspired Home this spring! :-)

And, oh friends, it has been SO SO SO hard to keep that secret from you! I'm really an open book kind of person, so having to hide something this big was difficult, to say the least. Keeping that secret sucked the inspiration right out of me. Posting a recipe wasn't very practical when food disgusted me. And other topics were just as difficult because every time I started to write, I'd end up coming back to my pregnancy, which I wasn't ready to share just yet.

But now that the cat's out of the bag, and I have regained some of my energy, you can expect a more regular posting schedule. I already have a tentative plan for the months of October and November. :)

The Details:

If you're anything like my friends and family, these are some of the questions you'd probably ask.

When are you due? How far along are you?

I'm about four months pregnant (almost 17 weeks).  My due date is at the end of March, but I wouldn't be surprised if this little bundle arrived at the beginning of April. Kiddo was 8 days late, after all!

How far apart will the kids be?

Kiddo will be a little over 3 1/2 at the end of March.

Will you find out the gender?

We do plan to find out the gender when we have my 20-week ultrasound in about a month. As much as I like the idea of a surprise, I love being able to plan ahead even more. That way I can purge un-needed baby items and plan a gender-specific nursery. I also think it will help make things more real for Kiddo to have a name for the baby.

Speaking of Kiddo, how does he feel about a new sibling?

So far he's really excited about "the baby in Mommy's tummy" and will tell friends and even strangers about it. Just this week, he asked me if we could get "a [stuffed] friend to for the baby to cuddle when it comes out." Since he has out-grown all his baby toys, he's pretty excited about sharing them with his little brother or sister. I think it helps that every single one of his little friends has at least one sibling already. I know things won't be all sunshine and roses once the baby comes, but I'm thrilled that he's so excited about having a sibling!

Do you have names picked out?

The short answer is no. We've tossed around some ideas, but nothing is really standing out. I'm sure we'll wait until after the ultrasound to pick a name. When I was expecting Kiddo, Hubby and I settled pretty quickly on a boy's name, but could never agree on a girls' name. We'll see what happens this time around.

How are you feeling?

This is always the question when you're pregnant, isn't it? I know friends who hate being asked, but I really don't mind.
The first trimester was rough, with unending nausea and heartburn in the evenings, but I know it could have been much, much worse. Thankfully, once I hit the second trimester at about 13 weeks, the nausea eased up and I started to actually want to eat. I still have mild heartburn, which is a pain because I really love spicy food and tomatoes, but I know better than to eat anything like that right now. I'm hoping that the heartburn will ease up in the next few weeks like it did with Kiddo so I can comfortably fulfill those cravings!

*Sigh of Relief*

Now that I've spilled the beans, I feel like I can get back to normal here on the blog. :) It was hard to hold back, but I'm comfortable with my decision.
Thank you, dear readers, for sticking with me during my months of relative quiet. I really do appreciate all of you and your support!
