A happy Monday morning to you, friends! Last week was so busy for us, so I appreciate the prospect of a much calmer week ahead.
On Monday, we stopped by a local orchard and got 80 pounds of apples for $20 and then met some friends at the park for lunch. I couldn't believe I was able to get apples for $0.25 a pound! If you've never heard of "seconds," they're the apples that didn't make the cut to be sold in stores. They are either too large, too small, misshapen, or blemished. These apples were beauts! With one box we made 7 quarts of cider using our cider press and canned 8 pints of applesauce, plus we saved about 18 for eating throughout the week. Not bad for $10 worth of apples!

On Tuesday, we had Bible Study and on Wednesday we ran some errands and went to a doctor appointment. Thursday was MOPs and Friday morning we went to a friend's house to learn how to make pumpkin rolls. I completely forgot to take a picture of the pumpkin roll (bad blogger!!), but it was a huge hit. I made two more yesterday to freeze for Thanksgiving. :)
This week's agenda is much calmer: Groceries, Bible Study, and the General Store for bulk dry goods will round out our week. It will be nice to have the option of spending two quiet mornings at home.
This Week's Menu Plan: 10/20-10/26
Monday: Sloppy Joes, Green Beans
Tuesday: Crock Pot Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches, Carrots & Celery Sticks
Wednesday: White Bean Chicken Chili, Skillet Cornbread
Thursday: Jambalaya, Cauliflower
Friday: Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken, rice, broccoli

Sunday: Small Group Lunch (Salad for Dinner)
After months of heartburn and nausea, I'm excited to give this meal a try again! It's one of my favorites, and I've been craving it like crazy! |
Last Week's Posts:
I spilled a pretty big secret on the blog this week. If you haven't read "Why I've Been Quiet Lately," you're out of the loop! :)
Wow, 80 lbs of apples for 20 bucks! That's amazing. I got some seconds this weekend (at a much loftier price), so I need to get going with applesauce, etc.
ReplyDeleteI agree - I really could not believe how inexpensive those apples were.
DeleteHappy Saucing, Annemarie! Thanks for stopping by!
Awesome steal on the apples! I like your menu because it's "reasonable" {if that makes sense} and includes things that my family would eat, too. I really need to try those Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThose buffalo chicken sammies are delicious! I'm just so excited to be past the 1st trimester yuckies so I can eat them again. :)
DeleteAnd I totally get you about "reasonable" menus. You will not see "gourmet" food on here, that's for sure. ;-) We're more into simple, easy meals that we all can enjoy.
Thank you so much for stopping by, Laura! I hope you stick around. :)
